I'd give this delightful slow-burn a 5 except that the sex scene (there is only one) is utterly OOC and the age gap and power dynamics (professor-student) borderline creepy. Also there are one too many "hey reader, did you catch that? Huh? Huh?" moments. But otherwise the characters are believable, hilarious and relatable, the story engaging, and the romance itself sweet.

This was absolutely just what I needed, apparently. This was so fun, I loved all the tropes (I love some mutual pining 😭), and I just devoured it. Will definitely be on the lookout for whatever this author writes next!

This is my new favourite book.

I followed the hype and, as it sometimes is, the hype was right. I don't think I've ever related to a protagonist so much while having a personality so wildly different to Olive's. She's bubbly, passionate, impulsive and incredibly smart, while Adam is rigorous, strict, closed-off but also ungodly smart. They're so obsessed with each other, they just make sense together.

The academic setting is amazing, and the science makes sense. As a fellow woman in STEM, I appreciate the topic being handled with the care that it deserves.  Even the side characters feel like they could easily exist on a college campus. And the audiobook was incredible, Callie Dalton I want you to narrate my dreams.

This was such a fun book! I kept setting it down, and then had to pick it back up, finishing it in less than a day.

The MCs Olive and Adam were so fun (perfect grumpy/sunshine trope); I couldn't help but picture Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver the whole time. I liked how they took time figuring out the relationship and slowly getting to know each other; it was the best of slow burns with some pops of steam every time they were forced into looking more couple-y.

I wasn't a big fan of Olive's constant lies and fear of the truth, but I'm glad it was brought up several times; it is her character flaw, her defense mechanism after years of being alone.
I like that she explained this at the end, the scientist's fear of false positive and false negative, but I would have liked to see her face more consequences for all the lies.

I feel like the ending was a bit forced, a bit too quick. I feel like I needed a few more chapters
or more of them talking and figuring out their relationship rather than an awkward double date.

Overall, very cute, very fun, slow burn that explodes into a very steamy scene. Makes me want to go watch The Last Jedi.

Alright, this book deserves the hype it gets. It is just the ideal cute, comfy romance book. Adam and Olive's relationship was adorable the whole time, and there were so many of those "put the book down and squeal" moments that I love in romances.
One of my favorite things about their relationship is how kind Adam was to Olive the whole time. Even when she messed up, he was super sweet to her and always was making sure that she was okay. This is especially great since their relationship follows the grumpy x sunshine trope, so Adam was nice to her and her alone !! so cute.
Speaking of tropes, this is definitely a trope heavy story. I loved all the different rom-com moments that were included, so if you like trope-y things, you'll love this!
I think if I were to try and look at this book critically, there would be issues that I could bring up, but that's not really the point of reading this I think? I really believe that if you go into this expecting a cutesy romance, you'll love it. That's really all that matters!
My only critique of this book is literally just a personal preference, so really take this with a grain of salt and don't let it affect your feelings towards it: the spice in this book was a bit too much for me? I'm not a big fan of in depth spice scenes, and while there is only one sex scene in this book, it goes on waaaay too long for my comfort and there were just too many details and descriptions that I was not looking for. But I haven't seen anyone else have any issues with this aspect, so unless you are not into spice like I am, it is likely that you will not be bothered at all!
I should also probably mention that I did not love Olive's character as much as everyone else seems to. Don't get me wrong, I think she's fun and I enjoyed reading her perspective, but she was just TOO MUCH. She had an anxious breakdown after every single conversation! And like, I get it and I've been there, but it just felt a bit much that a grown woman had so little confidence! Part of the story deals with her lack of confidence, so it makes sense, but it was just a bit strange at times.  Adam also seemed to struggle with his confidence in the relationship at times, so together they seemed more young than they were supposed to be. BUT, this made things cuter at times, so it worked out.

Okay moral of the story: really cute relationship/book, definitely 18+, super quick read. <3
