Engaging and with enough twists from the traditional fairy tale to keep you on your toes. Also a frankly terrifying reflection on men in power

Buku ini tuh bercerita tentang Sophia yang mencoba 'keluar' dari kungkungan normalitas di Lille, di bawah rezim kekuasaan monarki raja-nya. It's so fun to read this. Full of women empowerment and alot of bravery. Romance-!ya juga ga mengganggu. I really enjoy reading this book.

It’s obvious that it’s the authors first book but still pretty enjoyable to read. I Do think that the beginning was better and that it gradually got worse. The characters had no idea what they were doing yet still had this childlike conviction to go kill the king like it would be so easy. The end was also lose. How did the magic work? I have no idea. I like when there’s a LGBTQIA+ love story/ storyline without it saying on the back, afterall it is just normal love. But the story felt I don’t know, not thought through. Why was Constance just lurking in the grave vault to begin with? Everything was weird. And at first I thought that I would be up for rereading it again but it’s just not interesting or complicated enough that I will forget any bit of the story.

Not my fav, it was good but it felt predictable and a little simplistic, i feel like if i read this when i was 11-13 i would’ve loved it though! probably just not the right age for me

Really loved the way this retelling worked. It was super different to usual retellings, I thought it would be a Cinderella story but instead Cinderella would be a POC yet it was like Cinderella's story has already happened about 200 years earlier and now the people are using Cinderella's story like a religious text and are applying it to their lives but is Cinderella's story really as it seems...?

I love Sophia and Constance relationship, and how they teamed up to go against the king. The ending was so good ,I love how it ended with Sophia rewriting the story. I wish liv was still alive and we could see Luke have the relationship he couldn’t have before.
