I love stories like this that show the nuances and complications of relationships. But my god no one in this book could finish a complete thought. And there are so. Many. Commas.

Story of a middle aged woman trying to balance the challenges of being a mother + wife + whole person, separate from either of those roles. Her life upends when she runs into an old friend at the grocery store that she has not seen in almost 20 years + that encounter brings up lies from her past that she’s been trying to keep pushed below the surface for decades.

This one snuck up on me. The writing is so good but it wasn't until about halfway through that I was hooked. The protagonist can be hard to like - but that's what made it so rewarding. I have no idea how this author can capture the viewpoint of every character given their lifestages. It's crazy. I kept looking at her author picture confirming that she was not, in fact, in her 50s.
