I didn't think I'd like this book as much as I did. I mean, I love Julia Quinn, yes, but this book was a bit of a pirate story which usually doesn't work for me. But in this case, it did. I loved the main couple. Poppy was awesome and Andrew was really interesting as well. There were great action scenes and adventures, but a lot of romance as well. And it took me a while to figure out the family tree, but I got there eventually. Great book, lovely characters, thank you Julia.

I liked this book but I didn't love it. It might be from the kidnapping. It could be considered Stockholm syndrome more than love.
Still I had a good time reading it. I loved the secondary characters and what Andrew became.

Oh. My. GOD.

I simply just could NOT put the book down!

The main characters & storyline were so wonderfully written; I was immediately captivated from the beginning! While Benedict Bridgerton ([b:An Offer From a Gentleman|9408584|An Offer From a Gentleman (Bridgertons, #3)|Julia Quinn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1346380157l/9408584._SY75_.jpg|846764]) and Micheal Stirling ([b:When He Was Wicked|110396|When He Was Wicked (Bridgertons, #6)|Julia Quinn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1274212205l/110396._SY75_.jpg|1118162]) have been my two favourite male leads for some time now, Andrew Rokesby quickly replaced them with his unconventional & roguish privateer lifestyle. The curiously adventurous Poppy Bridgerton was an absolute delight to read & she encompassed all of the individual, strong female lead traits the other Bridgerton/Rokesby heroines had into one character.

Another aspect I thoroughly enjoyed was how Quinn incorporated a historical architectural piece to the

storyline & gave our heroine a inquisitive mind that the other leading ladies sometimes lacked.

Just brilliant!!

Reading Julia Quinn's books is very much like wrapping yourself up in a warm blanket with a cup of cocoa, and chatting with an old friend. This book had everything I like in a romance novel. Two sassy and snarky but kind characters who dislike each other at the beginning, grow to respect each other, and fall in love. Poppy and Andrew were perfect characters. The quick wit and banter was on point the entire time, the tension simmered, the dire situations were not too terrible, and the ending, while a bit fast, was delightful and very well done.
Overall, I give five slowing stars to this next installment in the Bridgerton series. Loved it.
Thanks Edelweiss for giving me an e-arc!!

My favourite of the series so far.

A sincere disappointment, as our heroine spends the book kidnapped and imprisoned by the "hero," and doesn't do much of anything except a puzzle. Lots of banter, but the lack of motion in this book makes one weary.
