Trigger warning: murder, sex, heroin use

Written in third person perspective, the story follows quite a few characters who were all integral to the plot. Unfortunately, I could only connect to Erik, which is fine because we spend the most amount of time with him anyway.

I’m not gonna lie, this audiobook was so long. I thought I would never finish. The first 50% was just set up; it wasn’t boring by any means, but still…it was alot of investigative mystery to get through.

Some things that had me shook:
Spoiler

✦ Karina’s death. Holy crap. Freaking insane. Especially because she was almost safe but Adam shot the police officer that was trying to protect her.

✦ It was so stressful with Erik being framed as the Preacher. I felt so bad for him! Had this man running through the forest, hiding in lakes and stuff. But then again, is this karma?

Cause he did lie which caused Rocky to get incarcerated for 9 years….

But it’s so hard to not feel bad for him because being framed for multiple brutal murders is such a terrible situation to be in.

“I’ll give birth when I’m done with this case.”

Yes Margot!!! That is the energy we need.

✦ Jackie! Wtf, not Jackie!

✦ When Julio didn’t shoot Nillie in time—HOW?! He had a gun and she had an axe. How you let her get to you first, bruh?

The reveal me had me like—

In fact, the whole last 20% of the book had me stressed out. It was INTENSE. Absolutely insane!

Spoiler
✦ Nillie? I’m not sure what her name is exactly (#audiobook)
When she attacked Erik, I was like—

The ending kidnapping/murder/chase/burning house/rescue sequence was INTENSE, holy freaking cow!

Lars Keppler, y’all have definitely impressed me.

4.5 stars.

I really REALLY enjoyed this. I loved the plot line of a stalker most. Feeling like someone is watching me has always been one of my creepy paranoia feelings (and reading this has probably made it 200 times worse but ehh) and this book captured the feelings/paranoia of the victims really well.

The story had super gross parts but they were also equally amazing. My only downfall was the amount of named characters. I struggled to keep up with everyone, especially if their name was Swedish, as I kept forgetting who the smaller characters were.

But other than that minor personal problem, I thought this book was awesome. It kept me thinking at all times and had the CRAZIEST plot twist ever that I did not see coming at all. I would definitely recommend this.

I received this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The fact two years ago I couldn’t get to understand what was happening and decided to stop reading it. Now I read it again and truly it was so good, so many twists. I didn’t see it coming and was truly in shock. I’d recommend this book to my friends!

This was such a fantastic thriller! The opening scenes are chilling to say the least. Someone is stalking women from afar, video taping them as they go about their lives in their homes and then sending the video to police minutes before the each woman is murdered. Needless to say, the police don't have time to figure out who the women are before they're killed. This storyline runs parallel to another involving Joona Linna, the main detective from the series. Joona is not at his best but he's called in to assist the new detective in charge, Margot, who's very pregnant and very dedicated to stopping this killer. Joona also reconnects with his friend, the hypnotist Erik, which makes for an interesting dynamic. Everything about this story worked for me, the pace was excellent, the characterization strong, and the mystery a top notch whodunit. I didn't have it figured out that's for sure. I can't wait for the next installment in this series!!

Creepy och spännande från första sidan.

Inte lika läskig som jag hade hört att den skulle vara men fortfarande en riktigt bra story. Också rätt tacksam att man inte har så mycket insyn.
