Oh Sherlock, you bipolar little addict. This one is not was not as enjoyable as the first. It was only 100 pages, which I am usually able to get through in a couple of hours. If I’m interested. This one took me a day and a half to finish, I was obviously not as keen to gobble it up.
I figured out most of the mystery fairly easily, which for me is a let down. It’s not exciting if I can get it way before Sherlock Holmes does. That isn’t to say I don’t appreciate the way Doyle let’s us know that Sherlock is able to have setbacks, but some of this stuff was as some would say “Elementary, My Dear Watson.”
Overall I enjoyed the personal interactions between John, Mary and Sherlock the most in this story. The actual mystery didn’t do much for me. A shame, but they can’t all be winners.

El Signo de los Cuatro comienza con Mary Morstan, una joven que llega al 221b Baker Street con un problema que logra sacar a la pareja de amigos de la monotonía en que estaban hundidos desde su último caso interesante. Tras la desaparición de su padre, empezó a recibir extrañas cartas de manera mensual junto a unas valiosas perlas adjuntas cada vez. Un día, el remitente desconocido revela su identidad y explica la razón de sus extrañas misivas, todo debería haber acabado ahí, pero su hermano ha sido asesinado y el lujoso botín que le correspondía por derecho a la joven Mary ha sido robado.
A mi parecer la historia no es tan entretenida como la que se nos presentó en el libro anterior. No ayuda mucho que la explicación en detalle del villano sea para el final cuando ya se resolvió todo y sabemos que esa información extra no aportará mucho más; pero a Sherlock le gustó y eso es lo que importa. Lo que más me gustó de esta novela fue el despertar del amor de Watson, verlo como un chiquillo entusiasmado por Mary fue lo más lindo, y más aún cuando fue correspondido, sin embargo, me pregunto si esto irá a afectar mucho su relación con Sherlock, habrá que ver.

2.5 ☆ La respuesta es demasiado rebuscada, además que, el estar en el punto de vista de Watson no permite que el lector resuelva el misterio, ya que Watson no se percata de todos los detalles que encuentra Sherlock, además que tampoco cuenta con sus conocimientos como para llegar a las conclusiones que llega el detective.
I enjoyed this mystery, I found the motivation behind the murders interesting and creative.
I loved how incompetent Scotland Yard appears once again.
I found the relationship that Watson develops with a female character a little bit thin, but I am happy for him regardless.
I found this tail filled with twists and turns and enjoyable.
