I liked this story. I always like, it's Sherlock after all. But it wasn't his best case.
And there's the cocaine. I saw many people talking about the cocaine and yeah, I suppose it's kind of shocking when you first read it, but after watching so many adaptations of Sherlock Holmes I'm just used to it. What doesn't make me like it though.
Sometimes I forget about this bitterness that surronds Sherlock when he talks about women, so when he say something sexist all of a sudden it socks me a little, and I still don't know how to process this, because I really like this character (maybe because the first thing I've ever read about him was A Scandal in Bohemia), but this part of his personality still bothers me a lot.
Anyway, I liked this one, but I still think that Sherlock's best cases are told in short stories.

I guess I'm just... not a Sherlock Holmes fan? Is that a kind of person that it's okay to be?
I've never considered myself a fan of mysteries anyway, because there are only a few very particular types that I enjoy, so maybe it's not so surprising that I don't like some of the more seminal works in this genre. But much like the first book in the series, I found the mystery in this one to be rather unengaging, and it seemed like most of the book consisted of either walking around and finding nothing or waiting around for someone to bring more information.
Maybe I'd enjoy the short story collections more?

This was a good tale and more enjoyable for me given that most of it Holmes had to be told rather than be able to figure out through divine inspiration. Not terribly likable figures but still enjoyable.
