I really liked this book, and enjoyed reading it as part of my very first book club experience haha :) I just wanted more from it. It felt short, and the ending felt a bit rushed. But overall worth the read!

i wanted to like this book, but i have strong opinions about this book and many of them are not good. I feel like this book seems like it should have never made it off wattpad, a lot of the writing seemed very juvenile to me and so completely out of pocket. I’ve never seen macbook used as an adjective but it’s creative i guess. I also feel like this book lacked creativity to me, the main characters name is mj stark from manhattan (this was my first moment of fear) who is horribly traumatized ( of course) and lacks emotional intelligence. I see potential for this book and the characters but it just didn’t do it for me, the girls in my book club loved it though so it might just be an issue of personal preference.

*I won this book in a GoodReads Giveaway*

And I loved it. The last few I've read and reviewed haven't wowed me - in fact quite the opposite. This is what I was looking for when I asked for a nice, heartwarming women's fiction novel.

Admittedly, this book already had me won over somewhat before I opened it. A novel focusing on female friendship? A secret club? Yesssss. Sign me up. I've always wanted to be in a secret girl's club. The drama, the intrigue, the shocking secrets and resulting intimacy...Y'all, I'd be soooo good at that.

Now, is it the most well written novel I've ever read? No. But there's something kind of magical about it. Yes, MJ, our main character, is a bit whiny. But you know what? I thought it was pretty reasonable myself. She was struggling, lonely, and passing time rather than living. She knew all that, but didn't know how to get out without sounding ungrateful for what she had - namely Dan, who she felt she owed for his kindness and ever-patient nature. Then came the DBC, and the realization that maybe it's okay to want something for yourself, and that while something or someone can be great, that doesn't mean they can't be wrong for you. It's your life, your choice, and you should do whatever makes YOU happy. Everything else will fall into place.

Now, would a book about the original four have been more compelling? I saw that argument in several of the reviews. Good point, ladies and gents. It might have. I will say, if it comes out, I'd read it. I would LOVE to read it actually. But that doesn't mean I couldn't appreciate this book for what it was. Fun, heartwarming, and pretty darn hilarious. I'm passing it on to my own book club and while I'm at it, I might just pick up a few of the books mentioned in it too.

I wo
n this book to review and this is my review. A very good "chick lit" quick read. It reminded me on a more realistic sex and the city, but it had more depth. I was very engaged with the characters. Great book of you are in your mid thirties especially. I liked the connection of women's friendships past to; it gave it more substance. Even if you end up not liking it, the book is a vert quick read anyway, but I think any woman would enjoy it at least a little bit.

This book was a great way for me to get away from the stresses of my life and just enjoy reading. This book had me hooked from the first couple pages, there were no parts that I had to force myself through. I personally love a good friendship novel and the dirty aspects of the book made it that much better for me.

This was such a fun book. I loved the characters and the friendships that developed. I enjoyed the secrecy, and the keys and the traditions. Now I want to be part of a secret dirty book club! Definitely recommend this one. Enjoy!
