Wasn't too keen on this compared to some of the other stories in this collection. Well written but I did struggle to understand what was going on. Maybe it was because I was reading it at 6.30am on my commute to work, but either way I couldn't fully connect with this one.

Part of a collection of science fiction stories written by well-known authors, this work by Towles (whose Gentleman in Moscow is in my top 3 of all time) started really promisingly but the conclusion was, unfortunately, disappointing.

I found the idea of this story really interesting and entertaining but for some reason I just didn't totally connect with it. I'm not sure what it was but I just didn't like this book as much as some of the others in the collection.

For a 50 page novella this failed to hold my attention.

2.5 stars.

Honestly, this felt quite average for me. It was fine and all, but I didn't feel like the story got off the ground. It felt stuck in the concept, rather than exploring it deeper. This was my first taste of Amor Towles's writing so perhaps he just isn't the author for me.
