Trippy in a way I didn't love at the end. I was getting excited along with him. And can absolutely see a company making use of data in exactly that way.

The gut punch comes when we learn he's in his third act, but his wife is in her second. We can guess the catalyst to her third act.

Speculative in a similar vein to Atwood.

If given the chance, would you create your child's "future" before they were even born?

Using genetic engineering for your future children, sure great idea when it comes to health.  But what about the general path of their life?  Really interesting story that falls a bit flat at the end.

big fan of amor towles

love the speculative fiction vague ending. eerie little story about possible futures and a fitting end cap to my 2019 reading.
