Great premise! Had tons of potential!
Most disappointing ending I have ever come across..

Enjoyable but not exceptional. Thought provoking for sure.

You Have Arrived at Your Destination is my forth read from the Forward Collection and one that so far I related to the most as a father of a 4 year old. It's brings up the question of how much a persons characteristics are formed by either Nature or Nurture. I like this concept Towles forces me to contemplate as I read along and it's definitely something I could see happening in our current world as technology advances. I also found myself contemplating the concept of free-will vs determinism and can't help but wonder with how much we rely on technology today that over time, we may start to lose our own free will.

Every single one of these stories so far are packed with through provoking concepts regarding technology in such a short read.

Final Forward Collection Rankings:

Amor Towles' writing style and imagination is captivating, and I've had this short story on my radar for a while, so I finally listened to it, as I wanted to see what new environment he had dreamed up.

YOU HAVE ARRIVED AT YOUR DESTINATION takes place in the near future. Sam and his wife are working with a fertility lab; she has narrowed down their options, so now Sam is learning of three possible sons they could have, which force him to reflect on whether that level of control is wise; how do you dictate such a choice? What do his own choices in life say about what he values?

I was drawn in, and I can't help but be in awe of Towles delivering yet another distinctive world.

A high concept sci-fi novella by Amor Towles, the author of two of the best historical fiction novels I've read in recent years. It's a little unfocused and meanders a bit, but it's brief, and has a lot of good ideas. Recommended.

Aside from the advancement that's proposed in child bearing, this doesn't really seem to fit the theme of the series.

It was interesting, not great but thought provoking.

I enjoyed this very much, although others in the series were more interesting. It was set not too far in the future which meant it didn’t have quite the same impact. However it was certainly believable and an interesting read.

Really bad. Terrible and confusing cuts between scenes and things the character is imagining vs. actually doing. Ends with a man slamming a specimen cup of his semen on a dive bar table and it’s meant to be profound. And also I promise you that sentence sounds 12,000x more interesting than it is.
