I don’t think there’s much talent in being purposely vague.

Just cus you’re a good writer ain’t mean you wrote a good book. Just cus the book make you think ain’t mean either of yous is smart.

Four stars because I immediately felt a need to reread it, which basically means I don't feel confident enough in my understanding to say anything substantive. I need to reread to decide if it gets bumped up to five stars, but for now I'm at least falling into the pro-Faulkner camp.

One of those books and authors one should read, I came to "As I Lay Dying" with zero expectations. It took me a long while to understand Faulkner's language, and longer still to form an understanding of each character. But it was well worth all the effort, and indeed I went back to the beginning to re-read all the bits that I hadn't quite understood the first time through. I now understand what a unique and incredible talent Faulkner was. It is not easy reading, but it is incredibly rewarding.

This book was weird as in when I wasn’t reading it, I didn’t really want to read it, but when I was reading it. I wanted to be reading it constantly. There was no draw for me; it either was or wasn’t.
