An enrapturing play that I read on one sitting. The way the Birling family just exudes upper-middle class harmony which just completely collapses by the end was so smoothly conveyed. The small surrealist element regarding how time and the character of the Inspector are treated also adds more to this detective mystery play.

I can very much understand why this play is chosen for GCSE english classes, a very easy manuscript to read with many underlying themes and literary devices to pick apart.
I enjoyed the very seamless characterisations if not a bit on the nose.

It does remind of me as a simpler version of Oscar Wilde's A woman of no importance?
