Meeting Mr. Anderson: The Men, Book #1

Length: 10 hrs and 42 mins

I wasn't sure throughout this book if I was enjoying it or not.🤷🏻‍♀️ The main couple seemed cute, but there were red flags flying all over the place, too. He kept too many secrets and got annoyed that she didn't trust him. She immediately assumed the worst, no matter what obstacles were put in front of them.🙈

It all worked out in the end with a lovely HEA.🙏🏼❤️
And as much as I want to know the story about Mr X, I'm not sure I can read another book like this, unfortunately.🫤 I did not enjoy the narrator at all.😢

will be commenting as I read,

ok, the author is trying so hard to make him this deep emotional person, I already know it will not be like that.

trying so hard to make her so unique and different, but she's basic and boring in reality.

I don't see how a sex scene can be so long and boring and quick.

wow her ex kinda sucks in the most stupid and superficial way.... commentary on that, she's almost 30 and knows he sucks why is she even wasting time almost a year after their breakup thinking of him. also laws are a thing... her problem requires an extremely easy solution. Overall I already know she's dumb and a weak character, I can also assume the author will try to make her seem different.

yeast infections, and also ew in the shower part.

trying so hard to make him funny... it's not working I haven't found this even slightly amusing.

Also, they've had maybe 2 conversations... idk man I wait before (spoiler) telling someone about my dead best friend or an ex who made a nonconsensual sex tape and showed people... might be me and my healthy, normal boundaries though.

I just know they will have this forced chemistry that is just portrayed by a bunch of mediocre sex scenes but ill try to get through it. Few pages later, I am right. Their sex is trying so hard to be good but the characters are actually so boring. I know their trauma dump and jobs and that's basically it. this author is just telling us about their characteristics but doesn't show said character traits. only the boring sex.

Honestly, if you're feeling horny read something else, there are books that have minor plots but focus a lot on the sex. Read those because everything here sucks. Kind of scared considering this is the first of the series and the author sucks at writing, plot, character development or even just creating a mildly interesting character. Truly hope they get better but the bad writing is as much as I can stand. It's a miracle this was published at all and either someone did not consider that people deserve actual decent books, she got lucky, or bought her way in because it has absolutely nothing to do with talent. I've read fanfiction written by middle schoolers in 2011 better than whatever the hell this is. Couldn't get through how bad it was.

This storyline could have been an Hallmark movie. But elle nicoll writing just made everything better. This book is a bit of insta love but with funny and charming character
I loved the second characters
Some details were a bit too long and repetitive
However it's a really nice discovery

Meeting Mr Anderson is the first book in the interconnected standalone series The Men. This book follows Jay who is an actor and Holly who is a flight attendant after they meet on a flight that Holly is working on. One thing about this book is that it is pretty fast paced, which to me makes sense considering the main characters' careers also making it a pretty easy read.

As much as I enjoyed the pacing of the book and the attraction between Jay and Holly, there was a ton of miscommunication between them which honestly just ruined the book for me. It felt like everytime they resolved something, something else would happen and the way they dealt with it just didn’t sit right with me. Saying that though I totally understood the way Holly reacted when she found out the truth about Robyn because if I had been in her situation I probably would have acted the same way and felt the same way.

Holly meets Jay Anderson while working the flight he is taking to LA. Of course she has a couple days to spend in LA before her return flight, and of course she spends the time with Jay. They have the instaspark and the hotness level is high.
Holly is the sweet heartbroken girl who is struggling with things her ex said and did. When she’s with Jay the insecurities fade and the dirty talking girl comes out. You can’t help but love Holly and Jay together. A cute romantic story of two people meant for each other.
Love Matt and Stefan!
Hope there’s more Rach and Mr X.

“He’ll be a lucky man, whoever wins your heart. You’re a treasure.”

Okay I'll start this by saying this was a tough one to get through and took me a few days to finish, I almost DNF'd this one. Almost.

Jay is your typical Hollywood star who doesn't like the fame and wants normal. When he is on a flight back to L.A. he is thrust into the path of a woman that knocks him off his feet and has him wondering about her.

Holly the long haul flight attendant who is on the flight that Jay Anderson is on and has zero clue who he is and why everyone is going nuts over him, until she is in his orbit.

"The way he treats me, the way I feel when I’m with him. I feel worthy of love again because I’m enough for him. He loves me; he loves all of me."

While this one was a somewhat of a good read I struggled with it. Holly was extremely annoying throughout. I understand being insecure but to the point that she is, is just ick!
Enter Jay who is silently arrogant while also being sensitive. I was confused at one point and going wait a minute only to figure it out a chapter or two later.

I'm not 100% sure if I'll keep reading the series or not but this was a slow start to a long series...

“You are an idiot, Jay Anderson.” I laugh, looking into his eyes. “But I’m your idiot.” He grins at me, before leaning in to kiss me and finish what we started.

‘Time with you is my happiness.’

“I know I do, Matt. I love him so much that doing this breaks my heart. But if it means that his might heal, then I have no choice. I would rather live without him than stay and know I am the reason his soul stays tortured.”
