I read this one just to know what happened to Justin and Adam during the time they disappeared. I have to say, it wasn't that interesting. The whole mystery was unbelievable and took a soapy turn.

The relationship between Justin and Sam was not even there. I missed their connection along the way.

Anyhoo, another one off my tbr. YaaY!!

Book 3- Flirty Sam, I was hoping Sam would get a book. Who knew the flirty little chef would be so protective? I'm glad Justin found his way back home even though he was so broken and scarred. For the past 12 years he's been lied to, deceived by those he thought he could trust and now he just wants to go home to die but once back on Crooked Tree land plans quickly change.
I highly recommend you read books 1 & 2 before you start this book just so you know what's going on.

Ah, the culmination of the series - so far! Devoured in one sitting.
Justin is a pressure cooker - all his pain and anger from when he and Adam ran and were kidnapped is pushed deep inside, his need for revenge is pushed in too, his humanity has been oushed down, his betrayal by his bosses is in there and his need to protect his family in the final squeeze.
So I can understand him latching onto Sam as an unknown factor in the family dynamic and i felt his need for revenge. We didn't get a full history of the mssing years but enough to put it together. And he wants to protect Adam which is understandable.
Lots of tension and reaction from all the guys who were around when Adam and Justin left. Cole was missing though, felt he should have been mentioned at least.
Definitely a reread series.

Slogged my way through this one. The first book in the series was perfect. Then we needed drama with a capital D. And not only that it's far-fetched and convoluted drama. By the end of it I felt sorry for our chef. I kinda wanted him to kick Justin to the curb for being so bloody dramatic and flighty.

Though a quick read in terms of length I just had to keep putting it down as there was no momentum at all.

This is the continuation of the Justin/Adam story and as such is not a standalone. We get more of the details surrounding their disappearance although it is still a bit murky to me. I think maybe I had too much time between stories to remember all the details.

I love Sam. I love his feistiness and protectiveness. I hate the way his family treated him and am glad he finally has something and someone to call his own.
Justin is working through his issues, not only from what he had to do to survive but what he became after the ordeal he and Adam went through. He’s a bit of a mess and I’m glad he has Sam to ground him.

I’m not a fan of insta-love and the relationship development between Sam and Justin was, to say the least, fast. They meet, Justin is incoherent most of the time their together and then leaves for quite a while and when he comes back they pretty much proclaim their love for each other. That didn’t really work for me but I still liked the story.

If you are a fan of the series, this one is not to be missed.

There is always an abundance of characters that we meet with each and every story that we read. Some we love, some we hate. I have to say that RJ Scott has created one of the most memorable characters in A Cowboy’s Home: Sam Walter. I saw Sam as the quiet strength, support and peacekeeper who helped Justin Allen through his return home, facing a difficult time with family and friends.

Justin is on his way home to Crooked Tree Ranch. He’s reliving what had caused him and Adam Strachan to go missing from home for over a decade, and the pain is devastating for him. He’s injured and hides out on the ranch at the old logger cabins. Justin is in turmoil, so many decisions to make: living, dying, revenge, family, friends, going on the run. What answers does he have for any of these things?

Sam, the chef at Crooked Tree, has returned from dealing with his own family problems. The owners of the ranch make him an offer that he can’t refuse. He decides to explore more of the ranch on his dirt bike, and checks out the old logger cabins. He’s also curious as to who, or what, has been sneaking into the restaurant. When Sam discovers an injured man at the cabins, he has no idea who it is. But once it comes to light that this is Justin, Sam becomes his rock.

To get the full dynamics of the Montana series, read Crooked Tree Ranch and The Rancher’s Son, then A Cowboy’s Home. It isn’t just a quick falling in love story between Sam and Justin. It’s a story about two men who have to heal and put the past behind them and move forward. It’s also about reuniting family, or making a decision not to put them in danger. I think RJ Scott will bring us more of Adam and Justin. With Adam only gaining bits and pieces of his memory, there isn’t closure yet between him and Justin.

I was so desperate for this book I literally read it in one sitting, this seems to be my norm for RJ Scott series' these days. A bit darker than the rest of the series but it was needed for this story, it was never going to be sweetness and light for Justin. It was great to see Sam being serious, he was the joker and player in the previous books and i loved seeing the other side of him. Justin and Sam together were just perfect <3

Another brilliant - and again quite different - addition to this series which is shaping up to be one of my favourites from RJ Scott.

In this, the prodigal son returns, but it's Justin's intention to die on Crooked Tree, not be welcomed home and accepted in spite of his 12-year absence and the whole plot narrative centres on how all the broken pieces come back together because of Sam.

Sam, chef at Branches and a man who is also in search of a home, is the anchor who Justin clings to when the proverbial hits the fan after he discovers the badly injured man hiding out in a cabin on the edges of the ranch.

The pacing in this book is pitched perfectly, there's drama but it never becomes too much or overly angsty, Justin's done things he thinks the others will hate him for but he can't seem to accept he's the biggest victim of them all.

I loved Sam in this. He has a quiet strength which he's not really aware of but it shines through as he manages to breach through Julian's incredibly high walls and discovers only a tiny snippet of the pain he's hiding.

The rest of the gang is all present too, but unobtrusively, supportive but never overwhelming and I really liked how RJ let the narrative flow so that Julian is the one who slowly unbends and begins to see his life might be worth saving.

I also want to know more about Julian's fellow black ops friend Rob, who seems to be a prime candidate for an RJ Happy Ever After!

Now, onto the final book so far and it's another completely different tale - Sheriff Ryan and an actor!

We finally find out WTF has been going on with Justin. And Sam finally gets the love he deserves. I love this series so much and this one was no exception.
