This was unexpectedly boring. I found Sway’s scenes with his family and that nurse Sam to be very cringe worthy. The middle part of the story was so boring. I struggled to come back to the story every time I put it away.

The first few chapters were hot as fuck. And seeing the chemistry between these characters, especially in the last book, made it seem like more awesomeness was coming. But it never came. There was too much going that was irrelevant, so many side plots that didn’t make the story.

And omg Brian and his insecurity. It was so damn crippling. Constantly bringing it up and question. It was too much. I like some reality in my fiction, but this part specifically was a bit too much reality for my taste!

And there’s this thing that Lucy Lenox does in her stories that make me cringe. It’s so gross when you put an old female character that constantly talks about sex. What’s the point? I can’t see any situation where that’s warranted or even funny. Every time the nurse did that with sway, it made me want to stop reading the story.

So. The blurb made this book sound really interesting. Mute war veteran and his way to relationship and healing. But reality… was a bit underwhelming. I liked the plot, even if story seemed to be a bit hasty. Characters was a bit too black and white. Emotions lacked depth. And the mistakes. I can understand and forgive chef’s coat mysteriously changing color from black to white in a span of 10 minutes (maybe). But this. This:
“The x-rays showed no muscle damage.”
Like. How. X-rays can’t show muscle damage. At all. Even if it’s there

This is a slow moving love story, with richly detailed characters, subplots and genuine intimacy between two men.

Brian King was a favorite of mine when he was first introduced. He spent over 20 years in the US Navy, honorably discharged after a horrific ordeal at the hands of the enemy. He no longer speaks, and he has spent four years learning ASL.

Sway Hamilton is a nurse, he takes care of his mother, and is learning to live life without his twin. He is a natural caregiver.

Brian and Sway meet in book 3 in very unconventional place. In fact, they first have sex together in book 3! But they never exchange names, and would be hard-pressed to pick the other out in a lineup. This is my biggest complaint about book four, their first smokin, hot sexual interaction is at the end of book 3. I really think the author should’ve included it as a prequel in this one.

It’s a Via book, so of course there will be some silly drama, but that didn’t change my feelings about this love story.

Once again Aiden Snow does a superb job with his the voice acting in the audiobook.

This story has all the things I love from this author- hot alpha men, ridiculous over the top action and fantastically written characters finding love. Unfortunately, another defining characteristic of these book has become the absolute trainwreck editing and formatting job in every one.

If you've made it this far into the series, you can rest assured it's as good as the rest, possibly even better. All in all a fantastic addition to the series.

Promises 4 is the fourth book in the Bounty Hunters series by the fabulous AE Via. I have read a handful of her books and I have loved them all. But Promises 4 is by far my favorite. The writing is better, the characters well developed and the story emotional. I fell for Brian in the last book and knew his story was going to be something else! He is ex-military. Honorably discharged and highly decorated. He lost the ability to speak and has PTSD. Even though he can't talk, he's an impressive specimen of a man. He sees and hears things no one else does. That's why he good at his job. He's also scarily big and sexy as h. When he meets Sway, no words are spoken, but none are needed. Sway can hear Brian. There's such a strong connection between them that Sway just knows what Brian wants and needs. Once they get over their fear of seeing each other again, it's ok. Brian wants Sway something fierce, but he's going to take his time. Show Sway that he wants to take care of him. Sway is always taking care of others and he needs someone to look after him. Sway is a damn good nurse. He loves his job and he's moving forward in his career. He can't stop thinking about Brian and he wants to try to be with him. Brian is carrying around demons and they strike whenever they want. Will Sway be there to help Brian or will he run just like all the others? Can Brian trust in Sway? These two are an unlikely couple, but their chemistry is off the charts! Crazy sparks and fiery heat! I loved watching Brian and Sway fall for each other. They both have baggage, but sometimes it helps to share your burdens with those who love you. There were twists and turns and I loved every second of it. Overall, I laughed, cried, got hot and bothered and my heart was full at the end! I loved seeing the other characters from the series!

He wanted to wrap himself around one of Brian's thighs and hump it until the pressure in his pants subsided, but he was sure that wasn't the proper greeting protocol either.

There was only one. One King. Brian King. A man who could bring Sway to his knees with just a glance.

"I don't need you to talk, Brian. I can hear you just fine."

"I say two more dances, because I feel a little like Belle right now…I'm not gonna lie. But I will deny it if you ever tell anyone I said that."

I don’t want to sound like a broken record but I love this series.
I think this might be my favorite book so far. Ok Quick’s book is a runner up too. I just love the way they love each other. Not it wasn’t instant thank goodness for that. It was the way they fell it was for the whole person not for what he might be or for the future self but for who he was right then. I loved that Sway really just got who Brian was.

I also liked that we got some of the brother connection with Brian and Ford we didn’t really get a whole lot of it in Fords book and I missed it.

Again the narration is amazing!

I really adored this story! Brian and Sway were great characters and it was awesome to watch the two of them open up to each other and be what they needed. Brian and Sway have both worried that they come with too much baggage for a relationship to work and last and yet they both prove they see the other as worth it and that their baggage isn't too much for them. I loved watching these two build their relationship amidst everything they had going on. They had to work through some things and show with actions that they both would stay regardless of their hectic schedules and things going on. They would make the time for each other and for what was important to them. This was a great story and I can't wait to see what is coming next.
The narrator did a phenomenal job with bringing this story and characters to life.

Another solid book. Brian is a really good character to learn about and watch grow.

Finally we have women in the book. They're all old, but Tweedie was the best to watch on the page. I honestly don't understand military culture so the uniform felt weird to me, maybe that's an American thing.

This was so far the most interesting story in this series. The focus was a little less on the sexual part, but more on "real" issues, like the impact of serving the Navy, PTSD, coping, abuse of power in the work environment, prejudice...
So I really enjoyed when Brian put hings straight with dr. Dominic...
