Well, this one was a strange one; it began getting pretty dark toward the end, with lots of bad things happening. This shouldn't be too surprising considering religious extremists were involved. A lot of this is not something you'd expect from religious people, but as someone says in the story, you can interpret the Bible in many ways, and read almost anything you want into it.
Fortunately, there was a lot of very humorous dialog that helps mitigate this dark behavior somewhat, and that's the reason I like this series so much. That and the political correctness of it all. OK, well, Virgil is a bit of a ladies man, and seems to fall in love with every female he comes across. But he doesn't really come on strong, and it works with him.

This is a good novel but be warned, it contains a lot of graphic and disturbing sex.
Spoiler alert: Aside from multiple murders, this story deals with a group of people who are involved in a so-called religion that teaches its members that among other things incest and having sex with underage children is not only okay, but expected. Much of the sex described by the author who pulls no punches in his descriptions, is brutal.

John Sandford has done it again. Best book ever. I love the Virgil Flowers character - and I didn't think I could ever like a character as much as Lucas Davenport. Great plot, of somewhat ooky, and as always, it's fun to read a book with the Minnesota angle.

Dang, Sandford sure knows how to write engaging characters and complex plots. Very well done story

Another Virgil Flowers winner from John Sandford...although it should come with a warning label for subject matter. It felt familiar as I was reading it...turns out I previously read it a few years ago. I need to double check my book list on Goodreads! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I just love Virgil Flowers. The book was a page turner and I liked how the people were linked. He captured the small town-everyone in everyone else's business. Of course, all Sanford's books have an unrealistic shoot out and outcome, but I still love it and will be waiting for the next one.

That Effie Flowers! He is the shit. Through him in to investigate murders involving a freaky religious cult and someone is going to jail. Gripping and intense from start to finish!
