Serendipitously began reading this first volume on the 24th anniversary of it’s original publication. Can’t wait to finish the series in another 24 years.

The people in my life who love this manga are lucky that I love them enough to get through this shit to "get to the good parts".

Even for a Shonen this is some of the most low effort story/character introductions I've ever seen. Example: Character enters panel, says "I'm Rotten Joe! I love stealing! I'm going to steal everything from you because you're weak!" Then Luffy goes: "You sure are rotten! Gum gum pistol!" and hits him in the face.

I like the premise, and I truly do want to get to the "good parts", but these first few chapters are ROUGH.
