This book is great! The story is so imaginative and up-lift-ing. The artwork is really nice too, very bright coloring and the comic panels are used in some cool ways, like when they stop on each floor in the elevator.

For every kid that loves to push the elevator buttons.

Virtually a wordless picture book, when Iris' routine of pushing the elevator buttons is disrupted by her younger sibling, she gets angry. Then she finds a discarded elevator call button and decides to add it to her room. Little did she know the magic that was in that button. I can not say enough about the illustrations in this book! Iris' facial expressions are priceless and convey so much and the settings are beautifully constructed.

I adore all of Dan Santat's work, but this is in my top three! It's such a wonderful, magical idea, and my heart leaped to see Lily incorporating the idea into imaginative play. <3

Minimal words are used to convey this story of imagination and happiness. When Iris is down, pushing the button on the elevator to her family's home, cheers her up. Her parents always let her push the button, until one day, they let her little brother push the button instead. This sets off a couple of different actions, one of which is Iris finding her own personal elevator button which she takes to her room and tapes to the wall. From there, Iris's imagination and the elevator button take her to all sorts of places. The ending is very sweet and connects the story well.

Beautiful illustrations that encourage the reader to imagine all the beautiful places they could go and how your annoying sibling might just be your best companion.

Imaginative Adventure

A brilliant tale from celebrated author, Minh Le and award-winning illustrator & storyteller, Dan Santat. Told with minimal text, this near-wordless picture book shares the frustrations of an older sister having to deal with a younger brother who seems always in the spotlight. With facial expressions that leap off the page, readers will easily relate to Iris whose jealousy leads her to discover new places to which she can escape.

Such a CLEVER book! This one will capture readers' imaginations and make them consider what might be possible. As I read, I couldn't help but be drawn back to my own childhood when my sisters and I created all kinds of stories by pretending.

Such beautiful illustrations and formatting & a wonderful story. What child doesn't relate to wanting to press ALL of the elevator buttons?
