We enjoy these short, engaging biographies for our young children. They are written in an accessible way, without any unnecessary gore. This is a great introduction to the life and story of Malala.
Another wonderful instalment to the Little People, Big Dreams series!

What a beautiful introduction to the power of Malala's life and voice. Whenever my girls complain about school, I gently remind them how good they have it here in the United States, where girls are free to learn and go to school. We still have a long way to go toward global equality, though.

This book is beautiful -- I love the color palette chosen for the illustrations and the timeline at the end.

We love the Little People, Big Dreams series of picture books. Each one focuses on a real life person who has done something inspirational in their life. This new book in the series focuses on Malala Yousafzai. Malala grew up in Pakistan and loved attending her all girls school. Then the Taliban took over the region and shuttered all of the girls' schools and implemented other rules that seriously restricted what people could do. Malala spoke up about the rights of girls to attend school. This angered some in the Taliban and Malala ended up getting shot but she survived and continued to fight for access to education.

This is truly an inspirational story and we especially loved it because my boys are half Pakistani so they liked learning about someone from Pakistan. As always, the books if overflowing with colorful illustrations and has additional learning resources at the end of the book. Highly recommend!

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy!

'Malala Yousafzai' by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara with illustrations by Manal Mirza is the 57th book in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series.

Malala was born in Pakistan and loved to learn. Then her country was taken over by a regime that didn't want girls to learn. She spoke out about it and risked her life, and became a modern day hero.

There is so much to love about this series, especially how diverse the range of subjects are. The art is rich and warm in palette this time around and I loved the details on the pages.
