Reread on February 27, 2025

I'm rereading this book to get into the mood for the next book in the series.

I'd read it a while ago and am
embarrassed to say I didn't remember much of it. That said, and based on my previous review, I re-enjoyed it

I liked this one a lot more than the river duology.
A bit heavy on the angst and emotional dialogue considering the MCs are 20 but still enjoyable :)

"Heѓ??s my other half. My unexpected inevitable. My fucking everything."

4th reread 1/02/2025:

All i have to say is i could read about these 2 being horny and in love forever. I am such a simp for Aspen Kohl and his i-hate-everyone-but-you vibes

I liked their chemistry and the build up to their first official kiss but it dragged onnnn. I love Ce Ricci and will eventually read Head Above Water too, I just fear it’ll drag on the same way this book did.

⭐⭐⭐. 9

This book as one of the best grovelling scenes that I have seen yet. The person who was wronged didn't immediately say 'I forgive you' and pushed the other MC away to think on it. I loved this, as I hate quick reunions after a wrong doing.

This book was beautifully sweet and heartwarming.

Friends to lovers isn't usually my thing but this ATE.

80% of my annotations consist of “STFU STFU STFU” so yeah that’s how this went for me

Considering the first half of this book is basically just
lighthearted medium-paced

This was SO close to a 5* but there's one scene where Aspen is shitfaced drunk and Kee advances on him anyways and that genuinely pissed me off.

That being said, their dynamic through the book and a fucking soul-crushing, brutal ending won't allow me to rank it any lower than this. Actual real tears. Well played CE Ricci.
