The romance (and I use that term very loosely) felt forced to the point that I was uncomfortable as a reader. Too much SA and nonconsensual content. I kept waiting for a daring escape or a romantic rescue but it just kept hinging on the one creepy dude that put her in a cage that she is still somehow into. Its giving Stockholm syndrome and bad vibes.

I don’t quite understand all the hype but I’m interested to see where the story evolves in the next book. The first and second halves of the book feel like different stories so it’s a little difficult to rate effectively. Regarding spice, it’s deceptive at the beginning - making it feel as if the book will be much spicier than you expect but then it’s very tame.
