Again, everything I love about a person (basically that she is Zadie Smith…) it was fascinating reading how she observes others and herself, and everyone’s response to the pandemic. Beautifully reflective and thought-provoking

i've seen so many great reviews for this book but now that i've read it, i honestly dunno how i feel about it. zadie smith is a brilliant writer, don't get me wrong but i think i was just expecting something ... more? that's the only way i can put it.

The text felt as though the writer had a lot on their mind and aimed to cram all of these thoughts into a short book. Now I am a big fan of the writing style, the humorous tone and I loved the themes that were tackled, and it was quite an accessible read, I missed a red lining through all of these essays. Maybe I am just a bit thick, but a message at the end was not very clear to me. Then again, maybe this book was not really meant for the reader but for the writer.
