This is a fun and quite loose rendition of how blue jeans were created - as a response to the needs of gold rushers and in collaboration with others (as explained in the back matter). The text is lively and the illustrations, painted on denim, are cartoony and enhance the story.

The story was a little too much for me (too much DANG!) But the illustrations were brilliant. Paint on jeans - genius. That's what bumps it up to 3 stars for me.

A story of legend with a tread of truth. Very informative, funny, and fun. As a big Levi's jeans guy, I found this book to be a joy.

This one definitely stretches the truth (read the author's note in the back), but it was entertaining and would make a good group read aloud.
