The first half of the book had too much Aes Sedai, Egwene, and whitecloaks. I really can’t stand Egwene. Apparently she’s so strong and smart but she’s only a bratty 18 year old who is a big bully that has no consequences for her actions. It was hours of this. Second half of the book got back to its regular pacing and I enjoyed that.

classic robert jordan ragebaits me with character frustration for 500 pages and then grips me with oh god several things are happening. he is very good at driving me forward with this combo of frustrating moments and glorious moments

it's hard to tell how much of my frustration with characters' actions is deliberate (satisfying) and how much is genuine frustration with some somewhat... conservative choices, but then again those rarely turn out as bad as i'm anticipating so maybe it is actually more the former. regardless it is keeping me reading so good job rj

i did feel like
rand and sammael's fight at the end was kind of anticlimactic... rand just runs around the city for ages dodging lightning and then the other evil thing gets sammael? its sus your honour
. so many questions were raised at the end... what is going on
