Perfecta~ how the relationship is between the boy and the tree. I realized it's kind of dark story inside it.
I wasn't even going to consider this as part of my reading goal BUT I'm just annoyed at the ending. The tree should have grown some branches and slapped him for being so ungrateful!! Literally stole the soul and killed the tree and didn't even express thanks?
It kinda reminds me as my parents. They’re the tree and I’m the boy.
Love reading this to my son and he really likes the picture of Shel on the back.
I'm not really enamored with Silverstein as a whole, but I enjoyed this work.

i believe i read the retelling in indo back then. i can recall the story while reading this.
A beautiful, haunting story about giving all there is to give until you have nothing left.
What's the moral? What lessons can we draw from this? Who was right, who was wrong, or are there even such distinctions?
I feel like this is one of those books that hits you differently depending on the mood you find yourself in when reading it. Happy? Look how loving and caring the three and the ending are. Sad? Look how little that little s**t appreciates the tree. etc. etc.
