This is one of my son's nursery books. I'm rating it five stars for childhood nostalgia and because it's Shel Silverstein, but what that child did to the tree is straight disrespectful. I'm crying for a fictional cartoon tree...

This devastated me. I did not expect to feel such things while reading this in a Polish restaurant, waiting for my mushroom dumplings and fries to arrive.
I nearly shed a tear.
What a beauty of a story!
So short and simple, yet so truly moving.
In some way this story holds a message that is very accurate to what modern days have become. Mother Naturegives us everything and in return we often take only more from her.

Bro left the page and invited capitalism, just to come pack and exploit this lovely little tree for all its natural resources.
This is a child book. I've been fond of child's book since forever, but this one is the first I read after I reached my "young adult" life. :)
Short, most and the foremost. And it'sweet and innocent, just like a pure children. The story is shakin' me to the bone and reminding me about the base that my mother used to taught me, that I forgot one by one along when I grow.
Refreshing and I recommended this to you who has children or little siblings. :)
