Was a lot like the start of the Crave series by Tracy Wolff, but younger, less engaging for me.
A lot happened and all I can say is that I really want to read the next book to see what Adelina does next.

wow. this was incredible. not only was the writing very easy to consume, but the characters were intoxicating. i'd read that adelina was one of the best fmcs in fantasy, so i wanted to check out the series - i will say, they were right. i love her so very much.
if you're looking for a fantasy book where the main character is just a girl trying to help and wants to do no harm, this is not the book for you. adelina has so much pent up rage and anger towards not only her father, but everyone. her story is a sad one. instead of being broken and beat down, she rises and becomes only stronger. i love the idea that her powers come from fear and anger - something adelina feels a lot of.
not only was adelina an amazing fmc, but the young elites themselves are incredibly interesting. every single character was interesting, and there wasn't a single person i didn't care about learning more about. even teren. even the queen. it was all very intoxicating.
