I rounded up from 3.5 stars because I found the situation that Winter was in to be a unique take on the trope of mates in shape-shifter romance. Overall the characters were interesting, even the obnoxious ones, and the suspense was well done. I also very much liked the dynamic between Winter and Logan. In order for it to have been a "true" four star rating, I would have liked the story to have been more developed. Having read the teaser for Dustin and Emma's book, I imagine that the overall story will develop more.

This was a good first book for this series.

I liked Logan and I liked Winter. I'm curious to see how this crew forms!

This is my first book by this author and wont be my last.

Logan Furrow had a grizzly bear inside of him that was broken because of the choices the human side made. He was looking for someone to put him down when his previous Alpha couldn't go through with keeping his promise. Logan went to apply to be a part of the Blackwing Crew where he met the beautiful, curvy and sassy panther shifter, Winter. There was this deep pull between Logan and Winter that the former found very intriguing and terrifying at the same time.

Winter Donovan, a Panther shifter who was a city shifter, but things went wrong then she found herself in a dark place until she went to the Red Havoc Crew. Technically she wasn't a member, just stayed there because she didn't know where else to go. She was in love with Brody but the man betrayed her when he strayed leaving her heartbroken and feeling like she didn't belong. Even the Alpha of the Havoc Crew, Benson Saber knew that she stayed out of loyalty. He gave her an opportunity to find a place where she could find what she seeked and/or needed.

Winter made her way to Smoky Mountains where Dark Kane and his mate, Rowan Barnett were looking for new members to be a part of their Blackwing Crew. On her arrival, she met some very interesting shifters especially a bear shifter by the name of Logan.

Can't wait to read Dustin's story next!

I haven't been reading T.S. Joyce for very long (only discovering her with Harper's Mountain) but this was a terrific read. It is well written and it a page turner. This was a one day read for me because I just couldn't seem to put it down. I was invested in these characters. The cast of characters are all well done in this book. What I enjoyed is that Winter and Logan's story seemed to have much more emotion that the others I have read. There were times in the story where I really felt for how broken they both thought they were and how they were trying to find their way back. The other members of D-Team rounded out the cast nicely. There was plenty of humor to counter balance the emotional and I am really intrigued by the backstories for Dustin, Emma and Beast. I can't wait until the next book.

This story reminds me of the Gray Back interactions so much! The next book is centered around Dustin whom I like to think of as "Clinton/Bash Werewolf Jr." and I'm super stoked for that as well as Emma's and Beast's future books! This crew is gonna be interesting and T.S. Joyce thanks for writing more stories!

Winter has been dealt a hard life. The staggering blow of having her mate cheat and leave her, pushes her to strike out and find a new place. A place that just may be in one of the most dangerous and unstable shifter's arms....

I freaking loved Logan and Winter! I loved the instant connection they had and how sweet and funny they were together. Despite how fast paced this book was, I felt like building the relationship and feelings was well done and I really connected to the characters. I also absolutely adored all of the humor between the D-team and how they started to form bonds in subtle ways. It makes me super excited for the rest of the books. The only thing that disappointed me was that this wasn't a longer book; I just enjoyed the story so much that I wanted more. This really was a fun and fast paced read that I absolutely recommend for all of those paranormal romance lovers!
