This was a friends to lovers YA that read like a New Adult. Nothing really unique about this story.

Angst filled with lots of immature characters. It was a cute story, but not very memorable.

Kiss and break up positively consumed me, I just could not stop reading it even if I wanted to.
Peggy is a strong girl with insecurities and Dash is bad boy that you have to love and I love watching Peggy and Dash fall in love.
He does some stuff but is never played down, I just wished ending wasn't rushed.
I love her friend Daphne and can't wait for book 2 to see her with Lars.
If you love your friends-to-lovers romances, then this is a must read.
I will definitely be reading more from this author.

3 both characters were a MESS. i guess it makes sense they’re teenagers and everything... but it wasn’t well calibrated. the story could have revolved around their relationship growing from friends to hook up or friends with benefits or whatever and jealousy to a relationship. as in peggy being interested in dating and them “practising” would develop in several stages. instead it’s all from 0 to 100. from a few conversations about it, dash being an ass 20 times in a row to hooking up once and .... he tells her he’s in love.
and after that it’s even worse because it’s all about third parties. peggy hooking up with byron, dash sleeping with Kayla. It’s no longer about their relationship, only hurt and resentment and third parties. which is too bad... because it could have been something really good. it was starting kind of well

(don’t read it’s not worth anything to anyone - if only i could turn some parts of my reviews here as ‘personal notes for future me’)
i have tons i really disliked in this book but three things that bothered me deserve a mention :
- dash being really controlling but passing it off as caring and protecting his best friend. warning guys off someone and being hostile to that person dating when you’re not with her and are happily sleeping with other people ? that’s a no (jackson has the exact same problem in book 3 so i guess that’s something the author likes)
- homophobia. saying your friend is bi, and it’s okay as long as it’s not in your face ? f* off dude. also saying “hey i’m cool with lgbt people” actually probably means you have a problem with them. no one’s asking for your validation and an ally will actually never even think of saying that
- it’s funny how women get punished for their sexuality. peggy hooked up with byron? oh but turned out he was a real ass, he told everyone AND didn’t want to stop when she told him to. because it’s only okay for a h to do that if there’s sexual assault and shaming involved. a punishment. and that’s also the reason why dash forgives it. because now he’s mad at byron. which is NOT okay. because of course dash can do whatever he wants with girls, no big deal. another thing is the shaming of other girls. all the other girls mentioned except for willa and daphne. girls can have sexual relationships without being deviant, carrying diseases, being sluts and whatever else was implied in this book. of course, nothing was said about the male characters making out with these same girls.

"Love, I’d discovered, was something that multiplied. With every kiss and every touch, it continued to change shape as we continued to fall.”

Kiss and Break Up is an angsty coming of age romance telling the story of two best friends discovering their love for each other. With her newest release, Ella Fields showed again her talent in writing captivating characters that make your heart beat even faster.

”No time with you is wasted even when we’re breaking.”

The heart clenching and swoon worthy story of Dash and Peggy is perfectly executed and takes the reader on an emotional journey that keeps your eyes glued to the pages from the very first page to the last.

””…, because what I do best?” … “That would be loving you.””

What I really liked about the book is, that the characters are authentic. Not always likeable because they have tantrums, make wrong decisions, are sometimes self-centered and immature. But they ARE 18 so they are allowed to do and be all that. They are allowed to change a lot through the story while it helps them to find a way back to themselfes and back together. It’s all part of coming of age.

””What is wrong with you” … “You’re wrong for me. In all the right ways.””

I love how Ella found a great balance to mix heartbreak, swooning, angst, drama, emotions, sexy times, friendship, love, fun and anger, blending them into a perfect coctail that tastes sweet, sour, fruity and gets you drunk on all the feelings.

”It was too much. She was too much. Too much of everything I’d never known I’d need.”

Kiss and Break Up is a beautiful friends to lovers romance with all ingredients your romance readers heart wishes for. With her outstanding writing skills, Ella pulls and pushes all your emotional strings, even those you never knew you had.

”Falling in love with you has been the hardest, most exhausting, exhilarating, and wonderous thing to ever happen to me.”

I think I was halfway through the book when I started losing track of the number of (emotionally) abusive relationships, dysfunctional families, toxic friendships, and stalkerish/predatory behaviors. At least, all characters were toxic and just overall bad for each other

Omg this book was just absolutely amazing from a new arthur for me and I'll definitely be checking out her other book's.
I normally don't read YA book's, but once I read the blurb for this I definitely knew I had to read it and I'm so glad I did.
Dash is the guy that is your typical bad boy with a heart of gold who will do anything for his best friend even volunteer for her to practice her first kiss on him yeh I don't see anything wrong with that lol.
Peggy is the blonde, shy, friendly, book scrapping next door neighbor best friend who has her first date and doesn't know how to kiss and Dash volunteers to help her out can she really kiss her best friend? Would it be to awkward?
Let me just say this much you will fall in love with this boy and wish you had a Dash of your own. He is absolutely the best friend and more a girl could ever want.
I absolutely freaking loved this book and couldn't put it down it had me laughing throughout the whole book and I didn't want to stop reading it.

This is absolutely a must read if your looking for a light hearted fun read.

This is just my opinion and my review

If you are old like me, you remember those "Bo knows" commercials. Well in this case, Ella knows angst! I discovered Ella Field's last year and refuse to let her go. I'm so glad we didn't Kiss and Break Up. (Shameless, plug.)

Kidding aside, Kiss and Break Up is so every teenaged angst scenario you could think of magical woven into these kids lives. Total props, btw, for getting one of my favorite tropes slipped in there. (Winks at Willa) It's fun, full of drama, and angst. Teens don't always have it easy. Ella Fields likes to keep it real. Even in an affluent, gold digging society, she is true to her story and doesn't hold her punches.

Leave it to Raven, Jack, Lars, and Dash to steal your heart. While they work their magic, Willa, Daphne, and Peggy, will become you newest best friends. I sincerely hope we get more from them in the future. Plus Peony, needs to host a party. I could totally hang with her!
