chose this because it was said to be a gender-swapped version of The Princess Bride, but for most of the book there was nothing notable to compare to that incomparable tale, other than reversed premise of the stable boy who gets kidnapped and the princess who goes after him. This book totally missed the quirky humor or asides to the reader, and, I'm sorry but poisonous snakes and a rough terrain are just too normal to be interesting compared to R.O.U.S.' and lightning sand. I liked this story just fine and will probably look for the sequel, but I feel like I was let down by expectations of what this book could have been, instead of just enjoying it for what it actually was.

Not re-reading. Not even finishing the series. So boring. I think things could have had more potential but just were not it. Disappointed because i bought the whole series.

I liked this story, even though it took me awhile to get through it. Lots of intrigue, definitely going to be a sequel with a big cliffhanger.

I enjoyed this I had a good time I just thought that a lot of the things that happened was convenient and not really fleshed out I am continuing on with the series I'm just hoping for better.

When I first started reading the book, I couldn't see the princess bride connection. But as of the book moved on and towards the end it became very obvious. I really like this book. The plot is good. It keeps you reading. Wondering what's going to happen next. I'm anxious to read the next book and see where the story goes from there. There was a twist at the end that I didn't see coming. There were also parts that I saw coming to miles away. I don't want to spoil anything in my review, but I'm hoping that two things I think are true will be true in the next book.

I've learned a very valuable lesson with this book. Never approach something with the expectation that it will be like The Princess Bride. Nothing will ever be as good as The Princess Bride.
