A chilling mix of futurism and..idk, killer genetically modified ants? If there is one thing Wendig excels at (and there is for sure more than one thing), it is making me scared of things I never thought to be terrified of. First apples, now ants? Not sure what’s next on my previously unthought of phobia list, but I can’t wait to find out.

Fun, creepy story. It seemed slightly slow a few chapters after the main character got to the island, but then I was falling asleep around midnight so it might have been me. Then Bang! and the action never ends, I hope there is more stories with these characters in this world.

I read this without realizing it was a sequel to another book so I’m not sure if reading the first one would impact the story at all. Having said this I found this to be ok, not great. I liked the concept and thought it was a fun idea, would probably make a good movie. The execution wasn’t the best, there were a few scenes that felt out of place and did nothing for the story but overall was a decent fast paced read.
