This was a fun quick read. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I liked the fact that it had to do with a bakery and food.

Fun first book in the series. I loved learning about the acting Piper did but I wanted more about the bakery and cake decorating. Hopefully there will be more in the next books!

Really liked this cozy mystery by Mary Jane Clark. I gave it 3 1/2 stars but rounded it up to 4. It was a fun mystery that I listened to on my MP3 player. Like her mother-in-law (Mary Higgins Clark), the author doesn't have bad language or sex scenes or gory crime scenes. It's a fun whodunit that keeps one guessing. I pegged the killer pretty early on and so the ending didn't come as a complete surprise, but it was still enjoyable. I liked the cake decorating aspect, but I have to admit it made me hungry especially being on a diet! :)

Author did a good job of providing lots of possible suspects and motives and not dragging it out too long.

I wanted less about making cakes and more about the story. I also had hoped for a twist ending.

I normally love Mary Jane Clark's books, but this was not good. I prefer mystery-book killers to have a motive beyond 'raging narcissist' and racking up a body count with impunity seems more insane than sinister.

Two and half stars....I've read several of Mary Jane Clark books that I really enjoyed. This one just didn't click for me.
