This was such a joy to read, honestly I need more of them. Their love was so sweet, truly i love every scene they had together. Towards the end that little chunk made me so sick but that was me being stressed so.

Oh darling Thea Guanzon I think both Jester AND Caleb would be proud!

this was so much fun and exactly what i needed!! also as someone who hasn’t watched any critical role, totally readable on its own! one day i will tackle the many hours that is critical role….

I did not know this was a critical role based novel until I started reading it and kept having to google things. I probably never would have picked up this book if it wasn’t for a monthly book club, but I did enjoy reading it!

I found some of the verbiage complex just for the sake of being complex and to sound fanciful and like a “good” writer. Another thing that bugged me was how the author kept so much from the reader in the beginning. I need more upfront to get into a world and story. There’s a middle ground between giving everything right away and nothing just for the sake of it. But perhaps the addition of not knowing the critical role world made that more of a glaring issue for me as a reader.

I also felt like some of the stuff the storylines were just a little bit anticlimactic. I would have preferred seeing her practice or learned about her magic throughout the book rather than just finally using it at the end without any training. There was a fire Madge type person with her and she didn’t ask her any questions at all and just left because of the risks to that crew. Asking the fire Madge a few questions wouldn’t have prevented them from leaving. But I’m being a bit nitpicky here.

This book was pretty good, a quick lighthearted read with good pacing. 3.75/5.
