I like this one so much, I've read it several times. Great short stories.

Jhumpa Lahiri should teach a masterclass in writing. I especially enjoyed the way she writes characters so that you get to know their quirks and traits in the span of just a few sentences. This collection provides evocative snapshots into the lives of both Indian immigrants and people who have never left India.
My problem with short story collections remains though. Some of these stories are more memorable than others and I probably would have preferred a full length novel but that’s just me.

I lean towards stories about immigrant experiences and Lahiri reveals its unique and universal aspects through these stories in a graceful and, at times, heartbreaking manner. "A Temporary Matter" blew me away, probably one of the best short stories I've read. "Interpreter of the Maladies" is another exceptional piece in this collection. Lahiri is an amazing writer, especially with descriptions of her characters and Indian food. Definitely worth rereading.

I only read the first 3 stories in this book, but I'm putting it down because it's depressing and just...lifeless. Disappointing after The Namesake.

Me encantó. La autora tiene una sensibilidad especial para transmitir la tristeza de sus personajes.
