A continuation / extension of the Underworld series brings us to modern day meets sexy ancient Egyptian gods in Gods of the Duat. Fav quotes to convince you to read Anubis:

"This upbringing had instilled three fundamental lessons in the Lord of the Sacred Land, Ruler of the Nine Bows, and the Dog who Swallows Millions. The first lesson was that the dead were often thought less of than the living, so he became the god that cared for them. The second was that the humble dog was better than any human or god alike, so he kept their likeness to honor the creatures who had saved him. The third was to always have a healthy respect and humble heart when dealing with a powerful woman who didn't give a damn what others thought about her."

"You never, ever wanted to cross Thoth. He took petty vendettas to a whole new level."

"Do you want me to stop?" "No I don't want you to stop. I want you to take me to bed and touch me everywhere." "Thank the heavens."

"Tahirah had never been handled so reverently before, like she was something to be savored."

"So that's what they mean by the ecstasy of a religious experience. She had seen the face of God, and it had been between her thighs."

"Anubis laughed hard. Oh no, I'm not trapped. You are trapped in here with me."

"You are everything I have always looked for and could never find."

"It was almost as strange as having the God of War turn up sporadically to feed everyone like a giant, murderous mother hen."

"Anubis didn't mind this turn of events one bit because as any god of the dead would tell you, your beginnings will never be as important as your end."
Ok ok ok. Hear me out: Anubis.
This was such an amazing addition to the Gods of the Duat trilogy. I most likely have been spamming my friends (particularly one - she knows who she is, and I appreciate her for listening to me gush about this lol) with messages about this series. Anubis was the god I was waiting for when I started this for - he's my favorite Egyptian god, and I have tentative hopes to get a tattoo of him. This book was so good, and I absolutely fell in love, just like I did with Set and Thoth. There were so many twists & turns with this book - Rana's arc of being manipulated by the bad guy of the story (not bothering to remember his name...something Said, I think), Ishak's illness and his ups and downs, and Anubis' relationships with Set and Thoth.
