For a YA book, this had me hooked so fast. Great premise to start, and the character are so interesting, I really enjoyed the development of the world through the book & used the key in the front often. I Truly had no idea what would happen next and it’s been a while since I’ve felt that way, especially with YA!

I saw someone on TikTok say they enjoyed Lightlark more than ACoTaR which probably gave me expectations that ultimately let me down. Lightlark is an enjoyable read; there’s action, there’s mystery, and there’s just enough romance thrown in to keep me invested. However, this book was also a little too predictable for my tastes. The big reveal of the villain was ruined for me because the second that character was introduced I could tell they had ulterior motives. And that was the case for several other “shocking” moments in this book. I just had suspicions about certain events or characters that were most often proven correct. This made the unfolding of Lightlark a little less enjoyable for me. Despite that I will admit there were a few twists (2 that I can think of) that I didn’t see coming!

Thank you to Edelweiss for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

kinda hard for me to get into but then I devoured it. Also had an abrupt ending but I didn't mind that as much as I usually do

it was better than expected. i feel like the hate this book received is uncalled for. true, the author is not creative with her choice of names, (and the significant stuff for that matter) but it becomes less of a problem when you are immersed in the story, which is what had happened to me.

though isla is a strong, stubborn, selfish, stupid fmc, she was being true to herself. she lets herself be awkward, do stuff spontaneously, and i dont think it is for the plot. which is good.

i give this book 3.7 ⭐ only because some parts were rushed (this is a fast paced book, so its given) and i called only some parts of the ending. when the author said this book has plot twists, she really meant it.

I actually loved this book, almost 5 stars but I’m not sure about the ending. They’re cute and all, but was he really the right choice? I can’t help but feel bad for the other one even though these two make so much more sense together. Loved it regardless

Everything about this book was excellent. Isla is a wonderful character and the Lightlark land created is fantastic. I’m picky with fantasy and I ate this up, truly.
