This book was gorgeous. I loved the silbercows and the foxes. I'm so pleased there has been more added to the world of Graceling, and looking forward to more.

This book has such a slow start. I wasn’t able to get fully invested in the story until around page 200. I almost dnfed this book three different times, and the only reason I stuck it out till the end was because of my love for the first three books.
I didn’t really care for Giddon’s pov in this. What I love about the Graceling realm is that each book focuses on a strong female character who is overcoming her trauma. These women are admirable and relatable, so it was a bit of struggle to go from them to Giddon. I like Giddon well enough I guess, even with how he acted in book one in the series. I just would’ve preferred this book to focus on Lovisa’s story, because I feel like I hardly know her.
I did really enjoy the last half of this book and I was tempted to give it four stars just for that, but I cant’t get over my grievances with this story.

This book had potentional for grabbing and keeping my attention, but it fell flat for me. I enjoy books with more than one POV, but this book had a few too many. It didn’t allow for the suspense to build as well or for the characters to fully develop. The sea creature was a little much for me.
