I enjoyed this book. Good characters, and an interesting creepy story.

A mix of alien body snatcher and Stephen Kings "Carrie"

Mixed feelings

Body horror of the aquatic variety. The beginning of this felt like it was going to be great then it got a little slow and repetitive in the middle. Lost a bit of the umph and it wasn’t really horror or scary. More psychological.

The end was okay, definitely picked up the pace again. But kind of easy to guess where it was going.

I thought the 90s references were fun in a campy way.

I could not stop. 4.5 rounded down... The ending was not the punch the whole novel teased.

But an interesting story with GREAT twists and an interesting mystery. Some cool horror elements that made me squirm!

This book is everything I would want in a horror movie and more. There was nothing predictable about it. I loved the 90s vibes, and the characters. I loved the villains origin story. The book was written very well. I loved how it seamlessly joined the past and the present. The body horror was outstanding and very unique. Unlike anything I’ve ever read before. This needs to optioned for a movie ASAP.

Overall I did enjoy the book. However, I have young kids and I was listening to it on audio so it wasn't something I could listen to in the car to get through it as quickly as I normally listen to books.
