Bryson is an international treasure and I recommend this book to all homo sapiens.
funny informative

Better title would be: A long history of science.

One planet. One Experiment.

Bill Bryson is such an excellent story-teller! This time he tells the story of the universe, the beginning of time, dinosaurs, the rise of Homo Sapiens, the theory of relativity and quantum physics! Although he makes most subjects understandable, some of these topics still are esoteric! I enjoyed listening to the book on CD, it was narrated by Bill Bryson himself!

I thought I would be interested in a history of the natural world; turns out, I'm not.

This is an exceptional book, really accessible to anyone with an interest in the history of the universe and all of its beings past and present!

I actually had it as an audiobook so that it felt like I was in lectures again, the narrator William Roberts was very engaging and humorous so that was an added bonus!

Very different book for Bryson, but his distinctively folksy narrative made learning about science just delightful. Not for the faint of heart, this is a long and sometimes tedious read (chapter on taxonomy was particularly rough).
