Love how accessibly entertaining it is. Most of the new things I learned were more in the tangents of the human stories surrounding progress (which were equally distracting as enlightening) rather than the science itself. That's fine though. Still fires up my insatiable curiosity and burning desire to be a renaissance man and dabble in all these avenues of science.  This is a very long book, nearly 600 pages, and after a while I found myself skipping material. I was less than 100 pages from the end of the book when I finally pooped out. It didn’t even work to take a break and read a different book. It also didn’t help that such a book becomes rapidly out of date. https://whatmeread.com/2025/05/13/review-2579-a-short-history-of-nearly-everything/

DID NOT FINISH

Audiobook wasn’t as engaging. But I might pick it up.

I was sad when this book was over! I could have read it all over again. Very informative and interesting and I learned so much

I was looking to beef up my history knowledge and this book was interesting at times but very long it was more about the beginning of life and cells and the universe.

Excellent and fascinating book. While the actual science it covers is fascinating, the story it tells of how science and scientists improved and learned over time and the personalities involved was the most interesting part of the book.
