The Animorphs reread continues! Through shenanigans, there are dinosaurs. And some other aliens, but mostly dinosaurs. I found the POV changes a little disorienting, since they switch every chapter, but this one was a fun one.

I've always loved this one, mainly because I really like survival stories. This time through, though, I also stayed engaged after they acquire the dinosaur morphs and start actually living competitively instead of as scared little humans. And that was fun, too. I was also really struck by Tobias's whole I'm-doing-this-so-that-you-guys-won't-feel-guilty thing. Oh, Tobias. So typical.

Well, it's as it says in the title: they go back to the time of the dinosaurs. I think K.A. Applegate creates a really interesting premise with this, and introduces new and unique challenges for the Animorphs to deal with. She introduces some cool dinosaur history into the mix, which is always fun.

There was no point to this in the larger story and I hate the animorphs being the main characters of the universe

the ending made me startlingly emotional even though i kind of predicted it. also why did it take them forever to think about morphing dinosaurs and WHY DO THEY NEVER MENTION THE FACT THAT JAKE HAS ALREADY BEEN THROUGH A SARIO RIP?! all i’ll say about the ending is i was listening to exit music (for a film) by radiohead and it fit perfectly.

Definitely much better than the other Megamorphs - the characterizations are stronger and the adventure is better. Cassie really has a hard time in this one, had me crying a lot over her experience. Some great Tobias stuff in this one including plenty for the Tobias/Rachel shippers. Dinosaurs are very cool.
