I just can’t do it anymore- I really tried to keep going but it is just sooooo slow! There is no plot whatsoever and the MC’s are immature. Their internal dialogue is so repetitive I started skimming and I hate skimming :(

Took me a long time to slug through this but then actually started caring about the characters? Probably won't keep going with the series. The sex scenes were also not well described. Too much of the same description throughout

Finally finished this book, and it was awful. I can't even believe I finished it. The writing was as if a 12 year old girl wrote this. It read like a diary entry and just made me uncomfortable. Both Brendan and Kaylee were so childish and stupid that it just irked me so much! Kaylee, I understand her immaturity, but she was supposed to be this super smart and well put together character. She didn't at all come off that way. Brendan, trying to stay away from Kaylee, annoyed me. He just acted so childish. And it was this back and forth for like 400 pages!! Ugh!!! The cutesy cover from Amazon fooled me. I thought I'd love it. I didn't, and it's disappointing.

Quick Info
Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone
Part of a Series?: Yes
POV: Brendon and Kaylee
----------------------------------
Meeting the Characters
Brendon - Tattoo artist and Kaylee's Best friends older brother
Kaylee - His forbidden younger sister's best friend
----------------------------------
What happens?
Kaylee ends up moving into Brendon's house as her parents are moving away to help her sick grandmother. The situation is very odd to me, its sort of like the author didn't know how to get her into the situation of them sleeping together and made it so she had to stay at his house. Also her best friend was sleeping A LOT.
I didn't find the age gap too weird, its just Kaylee and her friend were very immature pretending to be mature. She was always giggling and just being very shy and weird.
Final thoughts
I liked them getting together and the sex scenes were interesting but them as a couple not sure I was on board. I think it was bordering on creepy at some points.

This is a hot romance with a great slow build. I loved the premise and the sexual tension between the hero and the heroine.

Over the past year I've come to love reading book by Crystal Kaswell. She really writes characters that pull you in and make you want to know more about their story. Brendon and Kaylee were no different. Kaylee is best friend's with Brendon's younger sister Emma. Kaylee grew up with a big crush on him, but she lost that crush for awhile last year when she had to deal with personal issues. Brendon started really noticing Kay months before her 18th birthday, but he refused to let anything come of his desires. One of the few things that bothers me when it comes to the two character's desiring each other is when they refuse to accept those feelings and instead try to get together with someone else. Brendon tried to do that and I ALMOST got irritated with him, almost. Luckily he redeemed fast and realized the mistake he was making. These two were meant for each other and I loved watching their love blossom and grow. It was nice getting a little bit of Joel thrown into this book and seeing how all these character's can tie together in some way. I hope that we can see more from this group of friends!

Takes a while to get going but the tension is constantly ramping up. Wish there was more spice but the romance and relationship building was perfect. There is some darkish themes surrounding mental health struggles so check you’re in a safe space. Overall a light hearted forbidden romance that will make you feel all the feels
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Death, Emotional abuse, Mental illness, Terminal illness, Grief, and Death of parent

Twice as Tempting
So I'm leaving this review after reading this book as second time, in preparation for her release of Pretend You're Mine.
I'm at a loss of words on how much I love reading this story. To read a story about someone battling depression and for the author to get the slow crushing feeling that comes with depression so accurate is amazing. To see Kaylee tell Brendan how she feels she is broken was so heartbreaking but to see him turn to her and say up don't give a f## was beautiful. This is such a great series.
