i liked this one lots! the chemistry between naya and jake was fun and sweet. the vulnerability they shared with one another was something that tugged at my heart lots.

this one took me so long just because i bought it as an ebook to read on my breaks at work. i typically read books really quickly so don’t read too much into the dates this was read. it was interesting and i liked it. if i had bought it as a physical book, i probably wouldve finished it in 2-3 days i’m sure. it was def a little hard to read towards the end with the assault that was depicted on the pages though

a tw for past toxic and abusive relationship and physical assualt

3.8 stars rounded up to 4. I read this book on a whim and I'm so glad I did. Denise Williams did such a great job of building up Naya and Jake's relationship in the book (even though they met during a one night stand) that the story flowed seamlessly into a heart wrenching second act conflict. I was internally screaming!! And the steaminess? PERFECT AMOUNT. I also appreciated that the third act conflict wasn't some trite argument between the main couple, but instead was a poignant confrontation of a very difficult and serious issue that plagued Naya's life pre-story. This is a book that, while the circumstances of the romance are unrealistic, you want to believe it's real SO BAD. Ugh. I liked this so much.
