5!!⭐️

One of my top and favorite reads of the year so far. This book was amazing. The suspense kept me wanting to read more and more until the very end. It was so fun to buddy read with my friend <3 theorizing and planning out the whole mystery and who did it was so fun. The production logs, interviews, and the fun bits added to the book made the experience so much better and easy to follow along. I loved the way it felt super interactive. My first mystery genre which made me fall in love with it.

Pippa is one of the best FMCs being in her head never felt dull at any moment. She’s smart, loving and her sarcastic humor>>> i love her smm. Ravi the sweetest man!! Truly Pippa’s best crime partner. Him calling Pippa “sarge” was the cutest. Ravi the one who kept believing in her and his brother until the very end. Pipravi made me cry :( both of them so strong and precious. The way they love and care about their loves ones and each other ☹️

Shades of the Truly Devious series (and probably a boatload of other YA mysteries I haven't read) but with a much more likeable love interest. Pippa's world feels bright and real, and she feels tethered to it in a way that gives the resolution(s) a surprising amount of emotional heft.

The one thing I didn't like was the use of third person in the main narrative sections. Pippa's voice, seen in the project log sections, is distinctive and engaging. I'm not sure why Jackson decided not to keep going in first person throughout, but I always found the change jarring and the third-person sections just the tiniest bit flatter than the first-person ones.

Finally a YA mystery/thriller that didn't disappoint. This was so fucking entertaining and the format was unique. Also, very rarely do mystery/thrillers have such high goodreads average rating so trust it and read this fucking book

i loved this book so so much. i wish it wouldn’t have taken me as long as it did to read it!!
i loved every part of this book. i really enjoyed the aspect of seeing how it affected the accused family. i read a lot of mystery and thrillers, and that’s just something we don’t get a lot of. it felt refreshing for this genre & made it different.

andie bell IS alison from pll. which honestly is perfect for me because that is my favorite type of character in ya mysteries.

i thought it would be easy to guess what happened, but i honestly had no clue. i have a love hate relationship with the ending. love because it was so shocking and good. hate because it was SO SAD. i honestly wanted to cry for everyone involved.

the characters, setting, and story were all so thought out and well done. holly jackson can write a book! every single thing connected to something and lead to an even bigger mystery. all the characters were so fleshed out, developed and easy to connect with. you truly either love or hate these characters. they all feel so real.

overall, easily one of the best ya mysteries i’ve ever read, and perfect for spooky season!
