Started this as an impulse fluff read but ended up utterly charmed with the dual POV intensely emotional and angsty exploration of depth, fame, love, family and … pastry? So sweet it’ll make you ache.
This was my favorite book for the month of March. So good!
Absolutely loved it.
I knew after reading the first few chapters that this book would draw me in, and hold me hostage until the last page.
A former hockey player with a chip on his shoulder who is trying to recover from the most recent concussion + a popular actress who is looking for a place to retreat after being written out of the show = yes please.
I just loved how all of the story played out. The book gave me just what I wanted, and I want more of these characters.

Usually a fan of Callihan, but between the constant “he’s so hot” “I want her but shouldn’t” and the never ending descriptions of scenery/food/clothing/decor, I was already bored 20% into the book.
Read this to try to get over my Ricki Wilde hangover and it kinda did trick. A sweet, run of the mill romance ab an actress and retired hockey player coming to terms with their personhood and how their jobs don’t define them. I like how Emma and luc communicated when they had issues and didn’t let things just lingerrrrr. You know I’m such a fool for good communication and clear boundaries :)) I also like that Luc had a community around him which was nice bc I don’t feel you could see his personality much so his relationship with his grandmama and hockey team did make him more enjoyable. I feel like Emma’s backstory could have been touched on more and I wish she had more of a support network. She was like just by herself but all of a sudden has an actress best friend and other actor friends but they aren’t fleshed out as full characters but rather mere plot drivers…also I wish this book was like 150 pages shorter. It kinda ran on and I was skimming ready for it to end. Not that the book is bad but like how much more is there to say about two people who love each other but one is too consumed by hubris to stay who eventually find each other again..solid 3/5. Almost wanted to give it a 2.9 bc of the length but I’m a sucker for Luc as a pastry chef who is also communicative. ALSO THE NICKNAMES were so cute. Mariana zapata take notes…(re: Kulti)
i really enjoyed this book. i enjoyed the ex hockey/actress relationship and the main characters had so much passion for each other which was cute!
