I really enjoyed Emma Marin & Lucien’s story. Emma is a famous actor & Lucien is a hockey player. Both are going through rough times with their work. They meet while they are both trying to recover from the work trauma. Excellent narration by Ava Erickson & Jacob Morgan.
This book was hot hot hot. It starts with Emma AKA Princess Anya getting cut from her actress position on Dark Castle. When she left the set to go home to her bf she found him in bed with another woman. Completely thrown off she ends up in Rosemont which is a gorgous property in California known for its healing beauty. Emma is swearing off men for the time and trying to focus on herself. That is until she meets the Owner of Rosemont's gorgous grandson Lucian. Lucian confuses Emma from the start. He seems like the type to be a flirt but instead he stays quiet and practically ignores her. The book bounces from POV's where we are able to see how Lucian feels about the situations. Lucian had been a pro hockey player and retired early due to too many head injuries. He tucked tail and came to Rosemont until he could decide his next move. He had been engaged when his accident happened and after he retired she left him and basically told him he was nothing without hockey. So here we have 2 people stuck on the same property that both feel as if they aren't good enough for the world. Emma receives delicious meals in picnic baskets throughout the days and they seem completely accustomed to her. That's when she finds out that they are and Lucian is a skilled baker. She begins to fall completely in love with Lucian and his pastries. Especially when he night time skinny dips and she gets a look at his beautiful body. Emma invites Lucian to her friends wedding which just so happens to be the characters from the first book, Dear Enemy. So it was nice to get a taste of them again and they actually play a decent role in this. Lucian and Emma can't resist each other at this wedding and if they would have had a condom they would have went all the way. Instead Lucian spent the night worshipping Emma's body. When they get back to Rosemont they have multiple rounds of amazing sex. Emma helps Lucian rekindle his love for ice skating and brings back some happiness and courage to him. That is until Lucian gets offered a deal to go back to Washington and play hockey again and he takes it because he thought he was only hockey. Meanwhile Emma bought a gorgous home in California with a big kitchen in hopes Lucian would stay. And she found more actress roles that better challenged her and made her happy. While Lucian was in Washington he realized the only thing he wanted was to be with Emma so he left hockey and took a job being the pastry chef for Delilah, who he met at her wedding. And it ends happily ever after. Hot sex and a few bumps in the road.

Kristen Callihan just might be a new favorite author of mine! I'm slow to her fan club but this dual POV, washed up hockey player/actress romance gave me all the feels! I loved how both MCs have hit career roadblocks and looking to recover in a remote California estate. Everyone needs to find them a man like Lucian who will bake you mouth-watering sweets in an attempt to make you feel better!! This book also had great disability rep with Lucian's chronic migraines from one too many hits to the head playing hockey. Great on audio as well narrated by Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan. I can't wait to dive into Kristen's backlist pronto!
cute! a good reminder of what’s important in life. annnnd we love an ex-athlete who can bake
Too exhausted for a review. It was a nice little love story and decent distraction
