i absolutely loved emma and lucian, all the cute flirting and sexual innuendos between them

Read this book!

Kristen Callihan has created the perfect balance of sweet and spicy romance. This book is so wonderfully romantic but not over the top. Lucian is a former hockey player who has come to his grandmother's home of Rosemont to recover and hide away a bit. Emma is an actress who has been written off a famous show and needs a bit of a respite. The two bounce off one another in interesting ways at first, as Lucian secretly woos her with his delicious patisseries. The description of food in this book is swoon-worthy but then so is the slow burn romance between Lucian and Emma. It's absolutely gorgeous. This has become one of my favourites of 2021!

It was okay

Kristen Callihan made a comeback with yet another romance novel about a grumpy hero and a sunshine heroine with both promises and delivery of sinfully delicious treats. Make It Sweet was a ‘come together’ kind of a love story between two lost souls who managed to form a beautiful connection when least expected. The main characters were quite relatable, both figuring out life after being forced out of their comfort zones, as well as healing, and trying to trust in a relationship again. And even though the whole relationship between Lucian and Emma was extremely insta-lovey, I am relieved to say that I did enjoy the book in general (the food porn in particular haha).

I absolutely loved Make It Sweet.

Emma and Lucian definitely delivered gold when it comes to the grumpy/sunshine trope. Lucian is the optimum of grumpy retired ice hockey player and he is quite happy hiding away where no one will try to find him out of their very busy schedules. Emma only comes for a break in between career choices and she expects a blissful, scenic getaway, not having to avoiding a walking sex god.

Emma and Lucian go on a journey of healing and finding out who you are without the fame. They become each others confidants and best friends while also finding out new things about themselves. I laughed out loud at some of the characters and also hurt when they had their downfalls. I cannot wait to read the next book because I not only fell in love with these two but also the side characters.

(Audiobook) This was a cute story about an early retired hockey player and an actress who had just been cut from her big role. This also did play into her previous book, “Dear Enemy”, although still a stand alone. Nothing overly exciting about it, just your typical romance book.
