5 stars for steamy sweet romance between two lost souls who found themselves and each other.

Emma Maron was a perfect combination of a girl next door and a take no prisoners boss. She understands her career has been forced to change but she won't be pigeonholed into the same roles or ones she won't be fulfilled by. I really enjoyed the way her and Lucian's relationship developed because it took time for them to get to know each other and to truly decide to take the steps towards physical intimacy. They supported each other through difficult moments and even when things got particularly hard she did what she needed to even if it hurt at the time.

"My life was a wreck, uncertain and unsteady. And she'd strolled in with her starlight smile, unrepentant, challenging me at every turn. Telling me I was still worth something. That I meant something. To her."

Lucian Osmond struggled to let go of his hockey identity as he thought it was the only thing that made him who he was. Even when he and Emma were brought together it took so much effort on her part to push through the walls he kept putting up. He never thought he would be good enough for her and continued to struggle throughout the story. Their intimate scenes were hot as they were emotional because you could tell it took so much for the two to just allow themselves to be with each other. When he finally allowed himself to be cared for he finally started to heal and find himself.

"You're not safe, Lucian. But you're real. When I'm with you, I feel alive. I'm just me. And it took knowing you to understand that's the best thing any of us can be."

This story flowed well. You didn't feel rushed into believing that the two MCs lives would just magically work out. You felt like you were being seduced with baked goods along with Emma waiting to see what Lucian would make her next. The side characters added to the depth of both Emma and Lucian making them feel fully realized. I especially loved Sal (a book for Sal please!). While hockey and acting were important elements of the story they did not take over the plot, keeping the romance front and center.

"Give it up. You're all marshmallow on the inside, Oz. No one who bakes the way you do could possess anything other than a sweet heart."

A sweet, romantic, finger licking good read full of passion, friendships, finding yourself and some seriously delicious, mouth watering goodies! An injured hockey player goes home again go try and come to terms with the fact his career may just kill him, though that's going to be a journey. An actress finds solace and new beginnings at the same place and the attraction they feel may not be as fleeting and easily dismissed as they both hope. Hurt and defensive they must learn to accept life's blows and their feelings if they hope for a better future. Great characters full of life and depth, funny, decadent and a thoroughly enjoyable read!

4.5 stars

3.75/5 ⭐️ only because Lucian annoyed me a little bit with his poor pitiful me act. Otherwise, it was a cute story.

Auch wenn ich ungewollt ewig für das Buch gebraucht habe: ich liebe es.
Und ich habe gelernt: ich steh auf Männer mit dem Namen Lucian. Keine Ahnung wieso, aber jeder Luc war bisher immer heiss.
Will mich nicht beklagen!!

What do you do when life throws you a major curve ball? Emma and Lucien both answer that question the same way: hide. And when they choose to hide from the world the same place, they experience a different kind of curve ball namely love. I simply adored this story because it was so sweet. It still had some steam but mainly I loved it because it touched my heart.
