Emma and Lucian's story hooked me from the start, I liked all the flirt and banter between them. Their chemistry was undeniable, so this enemies to friends and to lovers story had me reading non-stop. These two broken souls find a way to help each other, but I really loved how the author brought some elements like food and double entendre into the story that made it original and refreshing. It was an overall sweet and funny story full of emotions and two characters that you will love.

10/10 recommend listening to this audiobook - so good
he’s an ex hockey player hiding out at his grandmother’s estate and she’s an actress about to get axed from her tv show who heads to the estate for some relaxation.
forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine, little bit of hockey, and he’s a secret baker. so sweet and cute.

Okay, so before I say anything I have to start with a fact: Kristen Callihan is one of my favourite authors and, even though some of her books aren't perfect, she never disappoints. A true Contemporary Romance QUEEN.
Now, to the real review. The thing is, 90% of this author's books have spicy couples. Couples that start off with something complicated, like hate, or an arrangement or just something that adds spice and complications to the relationship. This is the reason why I love her stories so much. And to be quite honest, this book doesn't have that. So I wasn't as into it as I was with her other books. BUT for this I can only blame myself, because Kristen always said it was supposed to be a sweet, healing book, and the title even says it, for crying out loud! So it's just me that couldn't find much of a spark there.
However, it's still a really lovely book and the protagonists are simply lovely as well. And as I said, Kristen never disappoints, so I still really enjoyed it!! It was a fun, sweet story and I'm glad I can start this reading year with a new cute book from one of my fave authors ♥

Two people who had huge monkey wrenches thrown into their lives smack into one another with a matchmaking grandmother.
Lucian’s life revolved around hockey. The last night he played he knew that his head was not okay. He went home to his grandma and had been cooking for her & repairing her lovely old home, Rosemont.
Emma has been the reigning fantasy princess on TVs hottest show, until the latest table read shows her losing her head, literally. Her grandmother sends her to Rosemont to reset and figure out what to do next.
These two are so delicious. Among the beautiful scenery and all the yummy food, you get this slow burn, Grumpy/sunshine dynamic that is so swoony.
I loved the nicknames and the banter.
I loved all the side characters and I really need to see Anton get Gibbs slapped by love. And Sal. He’s just so lovely.

Delicious!
This book is delicious for soooo many reasons. Emma and Lucian are both lovable and broken, their friends to lovers stories is sweet and sensual. However, the sugared carbs that Lucian made told a story. They were their own character. Lucian used these kitchen creations to secretly woo and communicate his feelings for Emma. It was it's own love story. I want to find the nearest French pastry shop and buy ALL THE THINGS. Seriously, the deserts were so decadent and described in such detail my mouth was watering! Not from Lucian's hotness - which is a thing - but from his baked goods!
The story that unfolded between Emma and Lucian was slow but beautiful. It is a slow burn friends to lovers and these two beat up broken souls slowly healing and getting to know each other was a dream to read.

Oh, how I love Emma and Lucian. He’s grumpy and taciturn yet has a heart of gold, especially when it comes to his loved ones. She has a beautiful soul and is observant of everyone around her, always taking care to be considerate and helpful. That’s why Emma sees through a lot of Lucian’s defenses from the very beginning.
Lucian, sweet Lucian, says with pastries and other treats what he cannot seem to say with words. The food in this story is another character. It works so well here. The author blends Lucian’s talent into a true love language.
Both Emma and Lucian have had a lot of knocks lately; it’s the perfect time for them to meet. They can commiserate with one another on a level not many others can. Their chemistry is off the charts whether they’re driving down the road not even talking, spending time chatting in the kitchen, or tearing up the sheets. I could not get enough.
A quick note: while this story is not part of a series, I noticed after reading it that it has connections to the previously released Dear Enemy. I did not in any way feel as though I was missing out on anything by reading this book before reading the other.
